Winteb receives additional IMO3573 type approvals
Winteb receives additional type approvals from Ilent, under IMO3573 rules Made in Holland
Winschoten – WINTEB is the first vent head producer in the world that has received the IMO3573 type approval. IMO3573 allows designers to mark air vent heads (officially APF, automatic closing devices Preventing progressive Flooding) as “watertight” with regard to the probabilistic damage stability calculations.
In May 2016, WINTEB has received the IMO3573 type approval for the WIN2000 Type 1 and the WIN2000 HIAS sizes DN50 to DN250. In July 2017 Winteb received the IMO3573 type approval for the WIN2000 HIAS sizes DN300 to DN400 and the WIKO5000-1-A sizes DN50 to DN250. Last month Winteb successfully conducted the final IMO3573 tests for the WIKO5000-1-A sizes DN300 to DN400.
The IMO3573 type approval also includes the fitting of a flame screen and/or heating device.
For our customers this means;
- New build projects. The WIN2000HIAS air vent heads size DN50-400 and the WIKO5000-1-A sizes DN50-DN400 are IMO3573 type approved. They will be fitted with a tag with an unique number for traceability purposes.
- Existing ships with WIN2000HIAS & WIK5000-1-A air vent heads (sizes DN50-DN400) on board. These vent heads need to be inspected and after approval they need to be fitted with a tag (supplied by WINTEB) with unique number for traceability purposes. So no need for buying new air vent heads.
- Existing ships with WIN2000 type 1 (old model) air vent heads (sizes DN50-DN400) on board. These vent heads need to be inspected, approved and fitted with a new sealing set (similar to the ones used on the WIN2000HIAS) after which they need to be fitted with a tag (supplied by WINTEB) with unique number for traceability purposes. So no need for buying new air vent heads.
