Winteb supplies IMO3573 certified Air Pipe Heads for vessels sailing under the Norwegian flag

Winschoten – Last week, two mechanics of Winteb gave special service to a vessel in Danish dry dock. The Hagland Captain (owned by Hagland) required IMO3573 certification.

Customized service

Since the vessel had to leave within a very short period, Winteb took necessary action immediately. Managing director Mr. van der Velde flew to Denmark to do a survey on board and create a full overview of the quantity and sizes that had to be replaced by the new certified IMO3573 Air Pipe Head. After the investigation, two mechanics of Winteb drove to Svendborg to replace the existing Air Pipe Heads on board with the classified ones.  Sister ship Hagland Chief was already fitted with the IMO3573 certified Air Pipe Heads, when it was still operated by sister company JR shipping.

Norwegian flagstate

Since the vessels are sailing under the Norwegian flag, the IMO3573 certification had to be approved by the Norwegian flag state. After the request of Hagland, the Norwegian flagstate approved the IMO3573 rules. The past months, the flag state of Spain, Ireland, Germany and Belgium have also accepted the IMO3573 regulations.

Being  IMO3573 certified, Winteb Seawater Resistant Aluminium Air Pipe Heads can be considered as ‘watertight’, instead of weathertight. This has a very positive influence on the stability calculations (a larger freeboard may be obtained), which could lead to an improvement of the occupancy rate of the ship’s cargo.

Winteb is the only producer in the world that applies to the IMO3573 regulation
